With that less-than-impressive explosion of science complex, the writers were given the space to straighten the plot of The Walking Dead in the right direction. More precisely, following the story according to what is happening in the comic. Despite many flaws (and there were many, alas), the first season sucked, and quite well at that. As a result of this (and much more), a lot was expected from the second season.
Let me be criticized for the many spoilers of both the series and the original source, but I noticed quite a lot from the already released episodes. From here on out, the show’s biggest problem will be "snot.". Tons of snot, liberally sprinkled with the limbs of the undead and the corpses of the few survivors. Although all this can be attributed to the fact that at the beginning of the working day, everyone who was on the set regularly watched the film “Hachiko: The Most Faithful Friend”.
The beginning of the first episode was staged amazingly: tension, fear and a herd of dead walkers moving towards the heroes. This scene on the highway was definitely, definitely not filmed without the help of Frank Darabont, who is no longer on the project. At this moment, the emotions of the characters, the atmosphere and the undead themselves were perfectly combined, just like in the pilot episode of the series.
Well, beauty, as always happens, is destined https://gamblingdata.net/casinos/fruitkings-casino/ to not last long. A crowd of zombies leaves in a direction known only to one director, some girl runs into the forest, and T-Dog (a character pulled out of thin air in relation to the graphic source) accidentally injures his hand and gets blood poisoning. By the way, he was almost killed by zombies. It’s a pity that it’s “a little bit” – he’s not an interesting character. Alternatively, of course, he is called upon to maintain tolerance and receive reproachful head nods from his friends – the hero is not lacking in crookedness.
Unfortunately, the aforementioned girl gets fucking lost in the forest. This plot device simultaneously spoils the remaining 40 minutes of the episode and will drag on half of the next episode, in which the action somehow tries to increase momentum.
But what was so wonderful about the comic??- its dynamics. For a short period of time, the characters were revealed and something happened at the same time. This happened in alternation and did not allow the reader to get bored at all. This can be called a feature of that very hand-drawn work – if there was drama, something fucking happened there. The heroes came together and diverged, some went crazy, but at the same time they all regularly killed zombies using all available methods.
Alas, the series is not capable of showing this. Long and tearful dialogues take many times more time than exterminating living corpses. Therefore, the second episode was not only marked by Karl’s serious injury, but also by tears about it. The comic managed to skip huge periods of time through itself, but the series did not. And this is also the problem of the second. I think that the entire second season will tell us about the adventures of the survivors on that old man’s farm. And if the scriptwriters don’t speed up the flow of events, we won’t see many of the delights of the source code of this crooked script. Oh yes, there were rumors that the series’ funding would be reduced. At this rate, we won’t see any prisons or psychos on tanks. And, also as an option, season 3. In addition, the scriptwriters screwed up the moment with the murder of “…” (well, who? whom?!), and now this hero is thinking about leaving, but not to another world.
The actors, meanwhile, are all plunged into tears and refuse to take part in the action. I don’t argue – they cry naturally, but not for the world in which you will live or not, the number of cartridges in the clip and the strength of the hand when squeezing the ax decides. On top of that, there are very few characters, especially those from the comics. I think that a charismatic black man (not tolerant, but?) Tyreese will not be there and his place will be completely taken by the character of Norman Reedus. And, most likely, with this we will also lose scenes with killing zombies with a hammer. Actress Sarah Wayne Callies (plays Laurie) also bothers me a lot; her facial expressions are simply deadly for my (and not only my) psyche.
I don’t think the series can be a good alternative to the comics. Well, that is, whatever you read, whatever you watch, the same thing happens. To the level of "Game of Thrones" as to the Sun on oars. Most likely, the series will go into drama, unfolding against the backdrop of a zombie invasion. How strong is not yet known. However, the fact that the heroes are experiencing many times more than they should be is bad. Worst case scenario: it will be like in “Falling skies”. In short, the series is quite good, but it does not reach the level of a comic book at all and will not be able to reach it due to the previously mentioned features. We are waiting for new episodes, preparing for the worst and hoping for the best. But the most important thing is that he doesn’t whine anymore.
